3x 30/5 Tonne Double Girder Overhead Cranes

West Crane Services is proud to announce the successful completion, installation and commissioning of three (3) 30/5 Tonne Double Girder Overhead Cranes, designed and manufactured in Melbourne and delivered to a major defence customer in Avalon, Victoria.

This project represents one of the largest manufacturing and installation achievements for West Crane Services to date — a milestone that showcases our growing engineering capability, our partnership with GÜRALP, and the strength of Australian-made crane solutions.

Australian-Made Engineering Excellence

All three cranes were engineered, fabricated and assembled at our Melbourne manufacturing facility, drawing on the combined expertise of our in-house design, fabrication, electrical and project management teams.

Key project features included:

• 30/5 Tonne Double Girder configuration for heavy-duty lifting and precise load handling

• GÜRALP wire rope hoists, selected for their reliability, performance and serviceability

• High-strength Australian structural steel, fully welded, painted and assembled locally

• Long travel and cross travel drive systems built for high utilisation and smooth control

• Advanced safety features, including overload protection, limit systems and radio control

• Compliance with Australian Standards, including AS 1418 and AS 2550

This project further reinforces our commitment to delivering Australian-made overhead crane solutions for critical industries, backed by local engineering and lifecycle support.

Installation, Load Testing & Commissioning

Our installation and commissioning team executed the project safely and efficiently, including:

• Precision alignment and installation of all end carriages and runways

• Electrical installation and integration with site power

• Calibration of hoists, drives and safety systems

• Comprehensive load testing using calibrated test weights

• Final commissioning and operator handover

The cranes are now fully operational and supporting high-value operations within the defence facility’s new infrastructure.
